Lh. Hinnavaru · Lhaviyani Atoll

The Sultanate Courtyard

The quiet one. A retreat built around shaded courtyard calm in the heart of Hinnavaru — village life on your doorstep, stillness within.

The Island

Hinnavaru

Hinnavaru is a living Maldivian community in Lhaviyani Atoll — cafés, mosques, a working harbour and streets of coral-stone and colour.

Staying in the village heart puts the real Maldives around you: morning fish markets, the scent of hedhikaa frying at tea time, and neighbours who greet you by name by day two. The beach and harbour are always a short stroll away.

Lhaviyani — known traditionally as Faadhippolhu — sits in the country's north, about 120 km from Malé. It is one of the Maldives' great diving atolls: fast channel drifts, famous wrecks at the Shipyard, turtle-rich reefs and lagoons that fade from jade to deep blue. Only four of its islands are inhabited, so the sea here still feels wide open.

Questions we are asked

Where is The Sultanate Courtyard?

In the heart of Lh. Hinnavaru, Lhaviyani Atoll, Maldives — known traditionally as Faadhippolhu, one of the great diving atolls of the country.

How do I get there from Malé?

By speedboat, with domestic options also available. The schedule is arranged with your reservation — write to [email protected] and we will confirm timings for your dates.

How many rooms are there?

Twelve rooms, all in a single category — the Standard Room. There are no tiers, so every guest enjoys the same standard of room.

Is it on the beach?

It is an inner-island house, built around shaded courtyard calm in the middle of the island community rather than on an isolated beachfront. The beach, lagoon and reefs of Hinnavaru are all close by.

What is there to do on Hinnavaru?

Lhaviyani is one of the finest diving atolls in the Maldives, including the celebrated Shipyard wrecks. Beyond the water there is the courtyard itself — shade, sea breeze, Maldivian tea and the art of doing beautifully little.

How do I book, and are rates shown online?

Book at thesultanatehotels.com/book.html or write to [email protected]. Rates and availability are confirmed by the reservations team at the booking step rather than published on these pages.
